Sister Karen Stoila is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, and friend to Sister Janice for 57 years. Sister Karen has degrees in Chemistry from Carlow and Villanova Universities and taught high
school math, science and religion for twenty years in Pittsburgh and Bronx, New York. After a sabbatical at Loyola University in Chicago, Sr. Karen continued to teach before being sent to Holy Rosary School in
Miami as Business Manager and Development Director. In 1996, Sr. Karen returned to the Motherhouse as the Director of Development for the Sisters of St. Joseph, a position she held for 21 years. In order to
ensure sustainability for the mission of Casa San Jose, Sister Karen came to Casa in 2019 as full-time Development and Finance Director, a position which has brought her a great deal of new life and a deepened love for the value of immigrants in our country
