is native from Ohio and moved to Pittsburgh in 2002 due to her husband’s work. Her husband Pedro was a native of Mexico. In 2003, after attending the only Spanish mass in Pittsburgh, she started volunteering with Sr. Janice Vanderneck in the Social Service Office for the Dioceses of Pittsburgh. She learned a lot about the struggles and inequities that many Latino immigrants faced. She later worked as the Social Service Minister at St. Regis Parish, also primarily serving Latinos. In 2012, she moved to Matamoros, Mexico. She was able to finally finish her education and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.
She was in Pittsburgh for a short time in 2018 and worked as the Administrative Assistant of Casa San Jose. She was told if she ever returned to Pittsburgh permanently, she would always have a home at Casa. So, when she moved back in October of 2021, she started back at Casa helping out in some other programs until she became the Case Manager for Casa’s new housing/homeless program. She is very excited to return to Casa San Jose.
