She is a Bacteriologist and Clinical Laboratory Scientist with an emphasis in Industrial Microbiology, who graduated from the Universidad Colegio Mayor of Cundinamarca in Bogotá, Colombia. Her specialty is Quality Management Healthcare and Patient Safety. During her academic period, she received classes in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Parasitology, and Molecular Biology, among others. In addition to this, she carried out academic practices at the Military Hospital and the Colombian Corporation for Agricultural Research (AGROSAVIA) where she had the opportunity to apply diagnostic detection techniques for clinical and research purposes.
During these 10 years of work experience, she has had the opportunity to work in different public and private entities as a Medical Laboratory Scientist & Quality Manager. Her knowledge and critical thinking skills allowed her to report accurate laboratory data to the medical community. As a Quality Coordinator at Clinical Laboratory COLCAN, she managed and monitored Colcan’s quality management system contributing to evaluate and resolve issues that could affect customers’ needs. Her leadership role helped to improve processes, educate and guide the community, employees, and other stakeholders.
She pursued an associate in science at the Community College of Allegheny County. She is passionate about life sciences and is looking toward obtaining a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration. She has been a volunteer in non-profit organizations, such as the Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation and Colombia in Pittsburgh, helping the Hispanic Community to get access to different services. Currently, she is working at Casa San Jose as the Regional Director of Quality Management & Social Services, where she brings her academic and professional background to support the community.
