Biography

Monique Bernal Herrera from Acapulco, Mexico currently serves Casa San Jose as an emergency housing navigator. Prior to working at Casa San Jose, Monique worked at Holy Family Institute with unaccompanied minors for two and a half years. Monique migrated to the US when she was four years old with her mother and brother. Growing up, she experienced the difficulties present for her family
because of the language barrier. She became the translator for her parents. Monique identifies that as the source of her passion for helping the Latinx community through her position at Casa San Jose.
Monique and her husband are caring and effective parents for two young daughters.
