Biography

Maria Salazar is originally from Venezuela, but Pittsburgh has been her home since 2014. Upon arrival, she quickly connected with Casa San Jose and Sister Janice. It has been a dream of hers to give back to the Latino community through Casa San Jose. She is currently the programs coordinator and makes sure the programs run smoothly! Maria is a graduate student from the University of Pittsburgh, where she pursued a Master’s in Public Health and International Development, with certificates in Global Health and Transnational Asia. Although she trained as a neuroscientist, her heart lies in serving others and breaking down barriers. In her free time, you’ll find her lost in a good book or exploring the city with her dog, Teddy. Maria is a language enthusiast, diving into Korean and Japanese. She also loves traveling and getting to know new cultures and food. Her passion for learning and helping others drives her ambition, and she's excited to bring that energy to work and our community.
