“Day Without Immigrants” Covered in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette


As stated in the article, “Beechview rally a show of solidarity for nation’s immigrants” written by Molly Born February 14, 2017, about 75 people gathered in Beechview in solidarity with those honoring the national “Day Without Immigrants” strike.

In reaction to President Donald Trump’s pledge to crack down on “the country’s dangerous” immigration came the national day of action. Although ICE officials maintain there is no “uptick” in enforcement actions, sweeps or raids in the Pittsburgh area, “local immigration attorneys noted that the agency appears to be more frequently arresting undocumented people who have been in the country for more than a decade with American-born children and no criminal record and those they encounter incidentally.”
